Grant authorized representatives access to patient accounts

Designated representatives can access the health information of patient(s) that they represent; for example, a parent may want to view or change a child’s account details online. Authorized representatives can log in to their own account (if they are a patient), and can choose to view their own information, or view the account of a patient that they represent.

To add an authorized representative and to grant them access to a patient’s account:

  1. In the Rolodex module, search and select a patient who requires an authorized representative.
  2. Select the Edit Patient icon, and then select the Guarantor tab.
  3. Select the Clear Data icon.
  4. Select the Select Guarantor button, and in the Guarantor Rolodex window, search and select a guarantor.
  5. From the Relationship drop-down list, select an option.
  6. Complete other details as necessary.
  7. Select the Primary Guarantor check box, and then select the Add a new Record icon to add the guarantor to the list.
  8. In the Personal tab, select the PatientAccessInfo button to open the PatientAccess Info. window.
  9. Select the Yes button to grant the guarantor access to the patient's account.
  10. Select the Representatives tab.
  11. From the Guarantor drop-down list, select the guarantor.
  12. Select the Add a new Record icon to add the guarantor to the list of guarantors.
  13. Select Yes to grant the guarantor access to the patient's account.
  14. Select the Regenerate button to generate a temporary password to give to the guarantor.
  15. Select the Modify Record icon.

The guarantor will use the temporary password to sign in to PatientAccess to set up their account.
