Grant authorized representatives access to patient accounts
Designated representatives can access the health information of patient(s) that they represent; for example, a parent may want to view or change a child’s account details online. Authorized representatives can log in to their own account (if they are a patient), and can choose to view their own information, or view the account of a patient that they represent.
To add an authorized representative and to grant them access to a patient’s account:
- In the Rolodex module, search and select a patient who requires an authorized representative.
- Select the Edit Patient icon, and then select the Guarantor tab.
- Select the Clear Data icon.
- Select the Select Guarantor button, and in the Guarantor Rolodex window, search and select a guarantor.
- From the Relationship drop-down list, select an option.
- Complete other details as necessary.
- Select the Primary Guarantor check box, and then select the Add a new Record icon to add the guarantor to the list.
- In the Personal tab, select the PatientAccessInfo button to open the PatientAccess Info. window.
- Select the Yes button to grant the guarantor access to the patient's account.
- Select the Representatives tab.
- From the Guarantor drop-down list, select the guarantor.
- Select the Add a new Record icon to add the guarantor to the list of guarantors.
- Select Yes to grant the guarantor access to the patient's account.
- Select the Regenerate button to generate a temporary password to give to the guarantor.
- Select the Modify Record icon.
The guarantor will use the temporary password to sign in to PatientAccess to set up their account.
